Aniointing of the Sick
By the sacred anointing of the sick and the prayer of the priests the whole Church commends those who are ill to the suffering and glorified Lord, that he may raise them up and save them and indeed she exhorts them to contribute to the good of the People of God by freely uniting themselves to the Passion and death of Christ.
- Catechism of the Catholic Church 1499
The sacrament of Anointing of the Sick is intended for any baptized Catholic at the age of reason who is seriously impaired by old age, bodily or mental illness, or preparing for a medical surgery/operation.
Through the sacrament, God unites the sick person to the passion of Christ for the good of the individual and the whole Church. The anointed is given graces of strengthening, peace, and healing that by the Holy Spirit, they may endure their serious impairment with courage, resist sin, and join their suffering for the reparations of sins, the salvation of souls, and the glory of God.
This sacrament is offered on the 1st Saturdays of each month after the 9am and 5pm Masses. It can also be received through a scheduled appointment.
