A few weeks ago, infrared and moisture readings were taken of our building’s structure. Infrared scans look for water intrusion and moisture retention within the structure. Linked below is the report from the contractor and a document that summarizes the results of these investigations and what this means for our path forward.

In the time since the release of the Feasibility Study Report in late January, further structural issues affecting our parish facilities have become apparent. These issues are currently under investigation, and thus, have affected the trajectory of our Capital Campaign.

Please see the documents linked below for an updated summary of where we stand and our options going forward. The "Detailed" update is an in-depth overview of options, potential costs, and more. The "Summary" is a shortened summary of the "Detailed" update.

Feasibility Study Report & Next Steps

The Feasibility Study Report & Recommendations from GRACE Philanthropy have been completed. It can be downloaded via the button at the bottom of this post. Below is the scope and schedule of the work we need to do over the course of the month of February:

           Fundraising to Begin in Mid-March:

Our architect firm, GastingerWalker&, has requested that we wait until March to begin our fundraising for the campaign in earnest. Delaying the fundraising a month will give them the time they need to provide us more precise pricing for all the projects we are wanting to pursue this campaign, as opposed to the rough estimates we currently have.

By waiting until mid-March to earnestly begin fundraising, we will ensure that we have an accurate understanding of the costs of these projects, and how much we need to raise for them.

           Determine Set Order of Projects

           :

Before fundraising begins in earnest, we need to properly format the projects we wish to pursue in the order in which they will be completed. For example: foundation of church first, windows second, elevator third, etc. This proper ordering will prevent confusion and division on where the funds go, as well as set a clear goal for us all to pursue. A survey to garner your collective input should be released shortly.

We need to form a prayer team comprised of parishioners who will be specifically praying for this campaign throughout the fundraising process. We also need to determine a campaign prayer, a patron saint of the campaign, and a spiritual theme for the campaign.

will be asking for donations to the campaign. This approach aims to both take the burden off of parishioners and personalize the asks through in-person contact with the pastor. We need to form a group of parishioners to serve as the support council of the campaign, helping Father to manage the information and prepare for these meetings regarding donations.

           :

We need to form a list of parishioners willing to serve as host for gatherings at their homes. These gatherings will be small group meetings with Fr. Kleine to discuss the campaign, provide information, and answer questions.

Announcing "One Family in Christ" - Sacred Heart Capital Campaign

Since 1886, Sacred Heart Parish has stood as a beacon of Catholicism and faith, service, and sacramental life in Warrensburg and Johnson County. Today, our parish is the legacy of generations before us that built a community rooted in the Gospel. We carry that mission forward with gratitude, hope, and a bold new vision for the future. It is our time to join in their legacy by ensuring that present and future generations gather on a parish campus that reflects more vibrantly the beauty and passion of our faith.

Today, we have an opportunity to renew our parish through some much-needed improvements. To prepare our parish for the future, Fr. Andrew Kleine is pleased to announce we are launching a feasibility study to evaluate the opportunity to begin a capital campaign to raise the $3.583 million we will need to enhance the worship and communion of our parish, and to invite others to join us, by making every aspect of our campus proclaim more boldly the glory of God.

Our proposed campus improvement plan is named “One Family in Christ” and seeks to enable and empower the faithful of the Church to live out our parish mission statement: One Family in Christ: Healed by His Heart - Joyfully Sharing His Heart. “One Family in Christ” will not only enhance our worship experience but will also remedy several longstanding facility issues that were deferred over the years and must now be addressed. Once these repairs and improvements are made, our Church will better serve our parish and further enhance our evangelical mission and strengthen our outreach to the broader local community.
